I hope all of you are having a great 2009 so far. As I’m writing this letter it freezing outside and there is a chance for snow tonight. I can’t wait until spring!
Believe it or not the Pool will be opening before we know it. The Pool Committee has already met a couple of times about the upcoming season and we have been discussing how we can improve the Pool and make certain that is enjoyable for all of our members. If you have any input regarding the Pool or would like to be included on the Pool Committee please contact the Lodge office.
If you know anyone who may be interested in joining our Lodge now is the time to get them an application. They will have plenty of time to get initiated and join the Pool when it opens. If you have any questions about membership please contact any Lodge officer or the office.
I’m sure by now many of you have had the opportunity to speak with Elizabeth Mehn who has been working in the office for the last couple of months – she is doing a great job for us. The next time you talk to her make sure you thank her for all of her efforts.
Unfortunately, due to the Panthers playoff game, we had to postpone Comedy Night. We have not rescheduled it yet but make sure you check the website calendar for the new date. This is always a great event and I’m sure this year will be no different.
The Lodge will be holding a steak dinner night on February 17th – Valentine’s Day. These have been very successful so far. We will be serving a steak or salmon dinner in the Member’s Lounge for $12.00 a person. It’s the perfect date night!
We are hosting a Mardis Gras party on Saturday, February 21st in the downstairs lounge. There will be some great food, terrific music, basket raffles and a contest for the most creative mask. Tickets are only $8.00 for an individual or $15.00 for two – they are available now in the lounge.
The House Committee has decided to continue our Thursday Family Dinner Nights during the month of February. We have received some very positive feedback regarding allowing families in the Lounge on certain nights. If you haven’t had a chance to come out with your family to enjoy this please try to do so during this month.
Unfortunately February means that the NFL football season is over but thankfully it also means that NASCAR has begun! The Daytona 500 takes place on February 15th and we will have all of the races on in the Member’s Lounge. Come on up and root your favorite driver to the checkered flag.
Have a great month and I look forward to seeing you all at the Lodge soon.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Doug Orcutt, Exalted Ruler
High Point Elks Lodge #1155
