Greetings fellow Elks! Springtime is finally here and we’re off to a great start in the new Elk year. It’s no secret that there have been some rough financial patches over the past 2 or 3 years, but everyone has pulled together and we’ve turned the corner. Through making some tough decisions, hard work, and execution of a strong business plan; we ended the year on a positive financial note. The outlook for the future of High Point Elks Lodge is very bright!
This year’s officers were installed on March 30th and congratulations are in order to this year’s Elks award winners. Elk of the Year: John Pascavage, Officer of the Year: Shari Driscoll, and Citizen of the Year: Abigail Hoyle.
On March 30th we also conducted an open house and had a great turnout. We took in 12 new applications for membership and several others in attendance showed interest. A big thank you to everyone that helped to host this event.
We have some great events coming up in the following months. Spring convention is in Asheville May 2 – 4, Mother’s Day brunch May 11, and the 1st Annual Andy Albertson Memorial Charity Golf Tournament May 31 just to name a few. Registration forms can be located in the lounge and this newsletter also includes an electronic copy that can be printed and returned to the Lodge.
We are also excited to announce that we will have additional activities in the lounge the evening of the golf tournament including free live music in the lounge beginning at 8 PM and a drawing for 2 round-trip airfares on Delta Airlines. These tickets can be used for travel to any destination within North America, which is served by Delta. This includes Mexico, the Caribbean, Canada, and Hawaii and there are no blackout dates! Tickets will be available beginning next week for a $10 donation each. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to win a great prize and help out with this charity event at the same time.
Serving as your new ER for the 2014 – 2015 Elk year is a great honor and I want to thank each and every one of you for your offers of support. With great people like you, we will succeed in all of our endeavors.
I’ll see you at the Lodge!
Fraternally,
Steve Martin
