We made it through another successful pool opening during Memorial Day weekend! Special thanks to the Pool Committee and the House Committee for making sure that our pool was ready to go and our grille and bar were fully staffed to provide excellent service to our Members and guests. The Lodge was the place to be and it was great to see so many families having a fun time!
I am happy to report that our Lodge is growing! After several years of steady Membership numbers, we are now seeing our Membership rolls grow significantly. Much of that is due to the great leadership from our Membership Committee and the leadership from our Officers and Committee Chairs. We are still receiving new membership applications each week and hope to see that continue throughout the year. There is great energy at our Lodge and we are all happy to see this.
There are so many wonderful things going on right now at the High Point Elks Lodge. Please stay informed throughout the month about all of the great activities and events we have planned. Friday evening, June 2nd, we have a Food Truck coming for the first time. Our swim team kicks off their season on Tuesday June 6th (pool closes at 4 pm) with their first swim meet vs Greensboro CC. Friday, June 9th, will be our annual Schools Out for Summer cookout with our 6v6 Co-Ed Volleyball league kicking off their season that evening. On June 17th, Russ Pallaci and his friends will be hosting another one of their famous family “Fish-Fry” events, which are always popular. Thursday, June 22nd we have our monthly visit to the Veterans Hospital in Salisbury and Friday, June 30th we hold our annual “Swim For Cancer” fundraiser. This is just to name a few of the many things planned for the month of June. I hope to see you all at these fun events.
I am proud to announce our “Elk of the Month” for June is a bit of a unique selection. This recognition has traditionally gone to an individual but not this time. When you learn about all that has been done in May, it was clear to me that the Elk of The Month should go to the entire Pool Committee! Congratulations to them and thank you for all of the dedication and hard work that you put in for our Lodge!
Fraternally yours,
Bob Gold, Jr.
