Hello to everyone!!! June certainly seemed like it came and went in the blink of an eye, and what a busy and fun month we had at the lodge. The Pool was in full swing and we even opened the pool up “full time” a day earlier than expected, and the swim team was busy with all of their morning and afternoon practices as well as we hosted 3 home swim meets in a 9 day span!! Incredible job by Char Edwards and the Swim team committee for having everything prepared and “ready to go” so our swim meets run so smoothly. A big thanks goes out to Head Coach (and new member) Rodney Byerly and his staff for making the swim team so much fun for the kids as well as making the team so competitive. They are really a lot of fun to watch! Next up is the City Meet in early July for our swimmers!! Good luck and as always—Go High Point Elks!!!
Staci Bensel once again lead our Swim For Cancer fundraiser and because of her and her team’s efforts they raised an incredible amount of money again this year and capped it off with another successful S4C silent auction night at the pool on June 14th.
The Pool was not the only place to be in June, as our house committee did a terrific job of lining up some great events for our members and guests. We had our Hops for Pops on Father’s day weekend (with some very good golf on the TV’s as well), a BBQ and Whiskey night and music was provided by a band called Jukebox revolver—and they kept the music going and the dance floor packed all night!!
Your lodge officers held the annual Flag Day Ceremony and it really is a wonderful event if you have never seen it before. There is some interesting history about the various flags that has helped make this Country the greatest in the world. Thanks to everyone who helped with, or came out to see the Elks Ceremony in honor of our Flag.
The Pool committee had their SOS (schools out for summer cookout) and even though mother nature crashed the party, those guys were still out there grilling and making sure anyone who was hungry got fed. Thanks to the PC for all they do during this time of year to keep the pool (and pool events) running so well.
As a matter of fact thanks to all the committees and members of High Point Lodge for making this month of June another one to remember and supporting our motto of “Service Before Self”. As always please be sure to check out our website for the upcoming/calendar of events, and be sure you are signed up for our weekly email blast. It’s only once a week and will help keep you in the “know” of all the great things your Lodge has planned in the upcoming weeks like the 4th of July cookout, Open Grill night, Fish Fry night, and Young Frankenstein Movie night to name a few…
