In keeping with the traditional theme of the month for November, I’m very thankful for being a part of such a great Lodge filled with wonderful and caring members. Each and every month I’m amazed at how much we did, and have planned to get done In the near future. This is a business that 90+% of it is run on the time and efforts of volunteers, and without the devotion of ALL of our various committees and members, we would not be as successful as we have been for over 110 years now. This month has been no exception as once again we have accomplished a lot for our community and our members and their families.
The month kicked off with a great Halloween party (be sure to check out all the great pictures in the newsletter) that had everything you could ask for: Decorations at every turn that really helped set the tone for the night, wonderful food, drink and music, costumes that were as clever and creative as they were entertaining. It was a great night had by all. Our Ladies Auxiliary had a very successful “tailgate wars” in November and I don’t think there was a square inch left on either table in the Lounge after all the great food was put out when the competition began. I would also like to thank the Ladies Auxiliary for decorating our Lodge again this year with their Holiday Spirit. They always do a great job of making the entire place look inviting and festive! Don’t forget that the Ladies will be hosting our annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 14th.
Next up is Veterans Committee and they planned a wonderful dinner for about 30 Veterans from Salisbury and High Point. Our Elks members and families stepped up to make sure each Vet had someone to help serve them dinner and keep them company during the meal. I know I speak for everyone who helped that night when I say “It’s an Honor to serve those who have served”. A big thanks to our Veteran’s Chair Beth Hawks and her team for making it such a special night for a special group of people. Our House Committee continued their streak of planning great events as our BBQ, Bourbon and Band night was a HUGE success with great music provided all night by the band Jukebox Revolver. Thanks to everyone who pitched in to make that night run so smoothly and enjoyable for so many.
I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all of our Members (Past, present and future) a Happy Holiday Season! Please be sure to enjoy the time we are given with our loved ones and to appreciate the wonderful traditions we have in this great country of ours.
December is already shaping up to be another great month full of events at our Lodge: Our Annual Memorial Service for our Absent Members, The aforementioned Breakfast with Santa, PER Steak Night, Members Only Christmas party, Elks Open house, Family Christmas Karaoke, and more… Please be sure to check out all of our Upcoming events on the weekly email blast and/or website.
