Happy New Year everyone. Christmas is over and 2020 is behind us. This year being know for the COVID virus, we will never forget the impact it has had on all of us. There is no one that has not been affected by the horrible virus and unfortunately it will continue into 2021. I am sure everyone is aware of the additional restrictions we have had to make at the Lodge. Unfortunately, masks and social distancing are required everywhere we go. Although we are restricted in many ways, we have found ways to continue to service our community.
Phil Driscoll was instrumental in procuring grants from the Elks National Foundation that allowed us to contribute $2,500.00 to the Hero’s Center and $2,000.00 to The Tiny House Development. In addition to these contributions, we were able to provide the Cassell Transitional Home with a Christmas dinner and a donation of $650.00. All of these funds will go to helping local veterans in need.
Our Ladies Auxiliary adopted two families this year to provide them a special Christmas. They packed an SUV with food and other necessities. Special thanks to Ann Marie and Monica Pallaci along with Doug Orcutt and Russ Pallaci for pulling this all together. Our very own Kathy Pascavage was named Educator of the Week. That is a great honor and reflects all the hard work she does every day. Congratulations Kathy!!!
Thanks to Johnny Pascavage for all the work he has done for The Most Valuable Student Scholarship. We have three girls and three boys that have been submitted for scholarships to the State Association Scholarship Committee. Good luck to those six finalists.
The PER’s served another great steak dinner and those who attended the annual Members Only Christmas Party enjoyed a great Steak dinner also. Due to the COVID restrictions we were not able to have the families of the departed members here for our Annual Memorial Service. We did record the service and shared it with them electronically. Our prayers and condolences go out to those families.
