Hello Brothers and Sisters:

Rain or shine, it seems like nothing stops our Lodge from having fun. Labor Day was such a blast at the pool – I hope everyone had a great time rounding out another successful pool season. What a way to end the summer!

September 11th – It is never an easy day, especially for those who lived in the tri-state area in the early 2000’s. As a former New Yorker who was working in a hospital that day, I want to personally thank North Carolina for the help and comfort the state and its residents provided during a confusing and very frightening time. This date is now known as Patriot Day, honoring the memory of the nearly 3,000 innocent victims who died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Each year Americans dedicate this day to remembering those who died and the first responders who risked their own lives to save others.

Our Lodge was visited by our District Deputy (DD) Richard Penk, his esquire Toni Deal, and auditor Jerry Peters on September 14th. We were praised for the outstanding involvement and outreach we have been doing in our community and with our veterans. Shar Driscoll was at the top of her game with excellent record maintenance as well. Thank you to all who made this a successful and professional meeting.

Our Annual Charity Fundraiser was another enjoyable event. A special Thank You to Deanna Vernon for her organizational skills! She will be handing over the reins for this event to Spring Kirk, who I know will do an amazing job next year as well. Thank you Tom Connolly for keeping everyone amused on the mic, and for all those who participated in this function. Your generous support will allow us to continue supporting great organizations in our community.

The NC Elks Fall Convention will be held in Clemmons at the Village Inn Resort on October 28-30th. Event and hotel registration is the responsibility of each member. For more information, please visit NCElks.org. We will have the honor of hosting our Grand Exalted Ruler Bruce Hidley. If you would like to attend, please do so.
