November saw several different events around the lodge and in our community. First, we saw the return of the PER steak night. Going forward through the winter months make sure you mark it down on your calendar for the first Friday each Month through March for the monthly PER steak night. You won’t find a better value anywhere in High Point.
Saturday November 9th was a very busy day. We started the day by setting up the drug awareness tent at the GO FAR run, they were a recipient of one of our ENF Grants. We were blessed to have a special guest Elroy the Elk was there shaking hands and taking pictures, Elroy was the highlight of the event. There were approximately 2000 runners that day. We followed that event with our annual golf outing. There was a great turnout at Holly Ridge and a great time was had by all. The net proceeds from the golf out went to benefit Camp Carefree. A huge thank-you to Deanna Vernon and her golf committee for pulling off another great golf outing.
The following weekend the Chili cook off was held. Although there were not a lot of teams the attendance for the event was outstanding. Thank-you to everyone that came out to support the chili cook off. It was some of the best chili, ribs and salsa that I have ever had. The weather was perfect. Next year consider putting in a team together and get involved in the fun.
I will close by wishing all of you a great Thanksgiving. I am grateful to be part of such a great organization. I am thankful for all of you and everything you do for veterans, kids, and people in need throughout our community.
