The first couple of months have been very busy at our Lodge. We started off the month of February on the 1st with a fun Super Bowl party, which showcased our new 140” High-Definition widescreen projector. There was not a bad seat in the house for this very close game, and the lounge was full of both people and excitement.
On February 8th our Lodge took on a business tone as we hosted the District Deputy Clinic. For those that are unaware, the DD Clinic takes place 3 times per year and gives all lodges in our district a chance to meet to discuss how the various committees are performing and also discuss issues that are important to our organization. I encourage every member to attend, as it’s the best way to learn about the state of the Elks in your district.
Coming up we have a Daytona 500 function on Sunday, February 22nd and we’ll also have a Crock Pot War on the same day. Anyone can prepare a crock pot dish and enter in the contest. Those not bringing a dish can still participate by trying all of the delicious food and vote for your favorite for only $5. You cannot beat this deal!
Beginning February 28th we will have a Wii Bowling League in the lounge. The league will go for 4 weeks each Sunday afternoon beginning at 2 PM. All participants will bowl 2 games per week and there will be a blind draw for teams on the last day. It’s a lot of fun, so come on out and play with us. More details with registrations to be posted in the lounge.
It’s not too soon to begin thinking about the 2nd Annual Andy Albertson Memorial Golf Tournament. We’ve set the date for Saturday, May 9th, so mark your calendars. This year all proceeds will go to Vets Safety Net here in High Point. Look for flyers and registration forms to be out within the next 2 weeks.
I hope to see you at the Lodge soon!
Fraternally,
Steve Martin
