February was a great month at the Lodge. Our Super Bowl party was the biggest in the past few years. Larry Peters was the winner of the PER big flat screen winner. The PER’s thank all who bought tickets in support of the essential fundraiser. Thanks to the cooks who cooked the barbeque. Mardi Gras was celebrated in great style. Thanks to the Ladies Auxiliary for decorating the Lounge. We also had our first oyster roast of the season.
As we look ahead, March is the end of the fraternal year and the end of my tenure as your Exalted Ruler. This year has been a challenge and the changes we have implemented during the year have helped the Lodge to be in the best financial position it has been in for the last 4 years.
I would like to thank all of my officers and committees for their support during the year. The pool was a great place to be during the summer and the Ladies Auxiliary always stepped in when asked to support our functions.
Our House Committee has gone above and beyond the call of duty. All of your House Committee members helped operate the Lodge when we went to an all-volunteer Lodge. I feel our Lodge would not be open if not for “the best House Committee in the state”.
Next year Andy Albertson will be your Exalted Ruler and I look forward to helping him in any way I can. We can always use volunteers to help make the High Point Lodge the best it can be. Please volunteer, even if it is only for an hour, as it is a great way to get to know more members and get involved with the many Elk activities.
On March 19th we will be having our annual Lodge fundraiser. This is a once a year fundraiser to help fund many of the charitable causes your Lodge participates in. Beth Hawks is again organizing and running this event. If you would like more information or want to buy a ticket, please contact the Lodge office or stop by the Lounge.
Our Pool Committee has started having their planning meetings. Please check our website, www.hpelks.com for details and announcements on meeting and work dates. Getting the pool ready for opening day takes a lot of effort and any volunteers who want to help out are welcome.
Pool season also brings in a large number of new members. If you have any neighbors or friends that are thinking of joining the Elks before the pool opens in May, remember the process takes several months. In order to be ready for the pool, I recommend that any new prospects get their applications in as soon as possible. Applications are available in the Lounge and in the office.
I hope to see you all at the Lodge.
Fraternally yours,
Scott Webster
Exalted Ruler
