October was a wild month, with hurricanes that took it’s toll on many Lodges around the state, especially the eastern areas. We still have work to do down east and plan on a trip to take much needed supplies we are currently collecting. Please bring any clothes, blankets sheets household goods by the Lodge. We have several large boxes we need to fill out front and in the Lounge.
I am extremely proud of our Antlers who set up boxes to take to help our furry friends in the area, Great Job Kids! I wish to personally thank our Ladies Aux for their support with the greatest basket of cheer I’ve seen to help raise money at our State Convention in Greensboro. We all had a great time and were honored to spend time with our new Grand Exalted Ruler Michael Luhr and his wife from the great state of Alaska. Our Ladies also hosted a very scary and successful “Trunk or Treat” for Halloween, thanks again!!
We have some great events scheduled for November the largest and most fun by far is our 16th Annual Chili Cook-Off on the 17th. This has always been a well attended event and a perfect time for members and guest to taste some wonderful food from Chili to Salsa and Ribs.
Our new Veterans committee is off to a great start and are looking for ways to show our appreciation to our area Vets. If anyone wants to be a part of this committee, we meet the 4th Thursday downstairs in the Lounge at 6:30 pm. Please bring any ideas you may have or names of any vet you may know who needs help.
Congratulations to Tim “Gunny” Schuman for being named our October Elk of the Month.
In closing I want to thank each and every member who helped make October a success at our Lodge. Please look for our weekly news letter for more events. Have a great November!
Fraternally yours,
Tommy Frazier
Exalted Ruler
