The dog days of summer are almost behind us, and what a terrific summer it has been. August seemed to be either very hot out, or nothing but rain—with not much in-between.

Lucky for us we had the pool to beat the heat, and events planned inside to stay dry. Hopefully you had a chance to enjoy the pool at some point in August, or enjoyed one (or more) of our
happenings like Italian Dinner night, Name That Tune Trivia night, Camp Carefree silent auction, Ladies Auxiliary Island night, New Member Social and so on… once again your Lodge worked hard to offer the members and their families a place to go for memorable and enjoyable times.

Please remember that just because the pool closes soon (booooo!) doesn’t mean the Lodge closes as well, if anything it is just the opposite.  Soon we will be doing our weekly events like “Family Grille Night” on Thursdays and Mike Cockerham will be serving up his world famous “Mike’s Wings” when the NFL season rolls around. The Lodge is a great place to watch all of the NFL action no matter what team you root for. The House Committee and Lodge will still be coming up with events for all of us to enjoy like the Chili-Cook off, Band nights, Music Trivia, the Halloween party, the VA Benefit Car Show (in conjunction with the Greensboro Lodge), our Mel Foster Reverse Raffle, among others.  I hope you check out the “Upcoming Events” on the weekly email blast and on the website often, as it is the best way to “be in the know””.
