What a great time to be a member of our High Point Elks Lodge! We had a fun filled summer at the Pool with the highlight being our 50th Anniversary Pool Party. This event drew a large crowd to the pool to celebrate this milestone. Additionally, we had free food, awesome entertainment along with the Drug Awareness committee giving out coloring books to our “future Elks”. We also had a food drive that day for a local nonprofit, D-UP. Our members, as always, responded with a tremendous amount of donations. D-UP was very grateful for our generosity. Special thanks to the combined efforts of our Membership, House, Pool and Drug Awareness committees and our Ladies Auxiliary to make this a great event.
We also have been very active in the community with providing Elks National Foundation and NC Charitable Trust grants totaling $11,000 to the High Point Food Alliance, the Heroes Center, Tiny Houses and LEAP. Additionally, we hosted veterans from the Cassell Transitional Home for a “Day at the Pool”, provided Drug Awareness Coloring Books to D-UP and LEAP, and conducted a Blood Drive for the American Red Cross.
As we transition into Fall, our Lodge will continue to have a lot of fun things going on for our members. The House committee has a great lineup of entertainment and events throughout the upcoming month so please check out the flyers at the end of this newsletter. Also, we will be restarting our Antlers group in September with an “interest meeting” on Labor Day and the first meeting on Sunday, September 12th so please be on the lookout for more details.
