What a fantastic summer we had at our lodge! Our Pool Committee deserves a big round of applause for the excellent job they did in ensuring our Pool members had a great experience all summer long. We ended the season with an exciting party on Labor Day and then several days later the committee worked quickly to start preparing the pool for the offseason. There is a tremendous amount of work that gets done “behind the scenes” to get the pool ready, maintain it all summer long, and then immediately start working on repairs and improvements. Most members don’t realize it but work is done virtually all year round to make sure the pool is ready for the next summer.
Now is the time of year to transition our fun to the member benefits of our lounge. The House Committee does a great job of planning events all year round and this fall is no exception. We kicked off the fall season with several events, including our annual NFL Season Kickoff party. From band nights, monthly steak dinners, Thursday night Family Burgers there all plenty of things to do for you and your family. Please make sure you are signed up for our HP Elks Weekly email and check out our website to see all that is available as part of your membership.
Special thanks this month to Richard Golden, our Leading Knight, for his focus on our Veterans. Hopefully you have noticed the POW/MIA table that is set up by the lounge exit doors. This table is in honor of our prisoners of war and missing service members. Each item on the table represents different symbols to help us remember our missing servicemen and women. Richard personally bought all the items and decorated the table. Also, next time you come to the Lodge, check out our flagpole out front. Richard bought and installed a new POW/MIA flag. Veterans are very important to the Elks organization as we have in our pledge… “So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.”
