Exalted Ruler Letter for June 2021

Summer weather is finally here and we just had a fantastic kick off to our pool season! The sounds of members socializing, the smell of hot dogs and BBQ chicken cooking, and even with mixed weather it was nice to see everyone “getting back to normal”. Thank you Ladies Auxiliary who did a great job with their Basket Raffle! Memorial Day is the official opening of our pool and I expect lots of fun, excitement and memories will be made this summer right through Labor Day. Great news is we are open to full occupancy, our pool chairs will be available but you can also still bring your own.

As I mentioned in the last newsletter, the Pool Committee has worked very hard for several months getting everything clean and ready for our members to enjoy their pool experience. Additionally, the House Committee has been working equally hard doing a full cleaning and prepping of the outside areas, thoroughly cleaning the lounge area and pressure washing the back deck and furniture. It takes a lot of volunteers working many hours to make our Lodge look so nice, and we appreciate all the work these members have done. If you see someone from the House or Pool committee, please thank them for their great work.

Also, special thanks to the Lodge Office as this is the busiest time of the year for Shari and Kelly. Processing all of our membership renewals and pool dues requires a significant amount of time and effort to get everything done timely so we can seamlessly continue to enjoy our membership privileges. Please tell them thanks as well!

Last month was our annual Spring Elks Convention in Wilmington. It was a great weekend well attended by several of our officers and members. The meetings went well and the social events all weekend were a lot of fun. Special thanks to Tim Hight, who returned from the convention on Sunday, May 1 and had to immediately deal with our water heater that broke and flooded the downstairs area. Tim quickly worked to clean up the mess and coordinated replacing the water heater quickly to limit any impacts to our building and the Caterer’s operation.

Please be sure to check out all of our Upcoming Events on the weekly e-blast and website.
