Committees

Americanism
The ambition and goal of the Americanism Committee is to quicken the spirit of American patriotism and to stimulate an awareness — a genuine feeling of pride and respect toward patriotism — so that we as Members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will become constant reminders to the people of our Nation that America truly means freedom and that ELKS CARE and ELKS SHARE. The Committees on Americanism — Grand Lodge, State and Local — are charged with implementing the patriotic activities of the Order and its Subordinate Lodges. Each Lodge should take part in as many of these programs as possible in order to accomplish a diversified impact for Americanism in their area.

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is comprised of our 5 Lodge Trustees along with our Exalted Ruler, Leading Knight, Loyal Knight and Lecturing Knight. Responsibilities include control the funds and investments of the Lodge, receive and collect income and rent from the Lodge property, execute all leases, contracts or other papers when ordered by the Lodge. The Board of Directors meet the second Monday of each month at 6pm.

Elks National Foundation
The Elks National Foundation Committee helps Elks build stronger communities through programs that support youth, serve veterans, and meet needs in areas where Elks live and work. Established in 1928, the Elks National Foundation is the charitable arm of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. The Elks National Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, helps Elks build stronger communities through programs that support youth, serve veterans, and meet needs in areas where Elks live and work.

House
The House Committee is comprised of Members appointed by the Exalted Ruler to establish, update and execute the House Rules of our Lodge. This body is responsible for hiring, training and managing all Bar and Grille employees. The House Committee oversees all activities within the Lounge and Grille and establishes the pricing of food, beverages and activities within those areas. This committee also schedules events for our Members and their families. The House Committee typically meets the second Monday of each month at 7 pm in the Lounge or PER meeting room downstairs. All Members in good standing are invited to attend any meeting.

Membership
The Membership Committee realizes the strength and vitality of any organization largely depends upon its ability to maintain or increase its membership. We have an obligation to develop a positive attitude that inspires the people around you to create an atmosphere that encourages others to become members of our great Organization. We also possess a passion for membership retention. If enough Elks care, there isn’t any membership goal we can’t attain. We must continue to allow Members the freedom to choose their level of involvement, and remain mindful that if a Lodge can keep Members positive and enthusiastic, we will achieve growth for our Order. Each of us must be accountable for membership growth. The Membership Committee meets the second Tuesday of each month.

Pool
The Pool Committee is responsible for ensuring that our Members have a safe and enjoyable summer pool season at the High Point Elks Lodge. We work closely with our pool management company to do everything necessary get the pool open each spring. Some of our responsibilities include painting, cleaning and making general repairs. Once the pool is open we organize the cook-outs, holiday events and all other pool activities. Participating on the Pool Committee is a fun way to get involved at the Elks Lodge. We have a great time! If you are interested in joining the Pool Committee, or just helping out, please contact the Lodge Office.

Public Relations & Social Media
The Public Relations Committee is charged with telling the stories of Elks’ activities and programs, positioning our Lodge to gain favorable media coverage, building an awareness of the BPOE and creating a greater interest in joining our organization.

Scholarship
This Scholarship Committee oversees the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship pogrom for our Lodge. Recommendations are made based on academics and need-based college bound students. We select 3 male and 3 female students to be reviewed at the State and National levels.

Swim Team
The Swim Team Committee is a group of enthusiastic parent volunteers, here to lead the charge that swim meets are organized, efficient, and safely run, so that our swimmers and divers can have a great experience during these events. We also work to help find volunteers to run the swim team’s social activities. We offer a competitive summer swim league. All swimming abilities welcome!

Veterans
The Elks National Veterans Service Commission was established in 1946, immediately after World War II, with the sole mission of serving our nation’s veterans. Though much has changed since then, the Elks’ dedication to serve veterans and military members in need has never wavered. In VA clinics, veterans’ homes, USOs, homeless shelters and more, thousands of Elks volunteers give generously of their time, energy and resources to serve veterans and military members each year.
